Two wildlife conservation groups in Maasai Mara Game Reserve are opposed to plans by the Government to export lions to Rwanda.

They noted that the population of the cat in the country was on the decline, yet the government was doing nothing to protect the lions from poachers.

"It is a fact that the number of lions in the country is on a steady decline. Instead of exporting them, the Government should campaign for their conservation to rise their population," said Nicholas Murero, the chairman of Narok County Wildlife and Environment Forum.

The groups plan to launch a campaign to stop the Government from moving the lions to Rwanda.
