General Service Unit's judoka Antony Njagi found the going tough and was eliminated in the preliminaries of judo just as the Commonwealth Games started in earnest here.
Njagi, a Corporal at the GSU Training School, saw his dream to re-affirm the GSU Swahili spirit: 'Fanya Fujo Uone' loosely translated as (riot and face the consequences), go up in smoke.
He suffered the loss in the hands Aza Weithers of Babados in the 66kg category.
"The tackle was not bad, but I suffered an injury in the rib. The facilities here are very good and even if we had a fraction of such facilities in Kenya we can do wonders," he said.
He added: "It is quite warm back home (in Kenya) and it's rather cold here in Scotland and this affected my performance a lot," said Njagi.
John Muthee Kirimi, Joshuah Omondi, Levy Kipsang Sang, James Mashobo and Isaac Mbugua Kinyanjui are expected to feature in men's other competition that ends tomorrow.
The 30-year-old Njagi, who was in Kenya's team to the East and Central Africa Judo Championships in Tanzania and in the reserve list, said: "I have picked some experience here. Will get back and train for All Africa Games in Congo next year.
Kenya did not present judo team in the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi and out with insatiable hunger for jewels.
The squad, which comprises the 13 judoka including three reserves, are competing at the Exhibition Centre.
