Bomet, Kenya: A former teacher was Saturday found dead in Bomet County after he allegedly took too much of an illicit brew.
The retired teacher’s body was found at Kapletunga trading centre near Sotik town after a drinking spree with friends.
Area Ward Representative Bernard Ngeno said trade in illicit brew was still rampant locally, despite the Bomet County Assembly passing a law banning the manufacturing, distribution, sale and consumption of illicit liquor.
Ngeno blamed the rampant sale of illicit liquor in the area on the laxity by administration officers from the region in enforcing the law.
“It is unfortunate that months after we passed the law banning the illicit liquor, we are still experiencing death from the drinks,” said the Ward Representative.
