NAIROBI: Kenyans can now acquire a Gotv decoder on credit from Mshwari after three major corporations announced a partnership.

The partnership between Commercial Bank of Africa (CBA), Safaricom and Multichoice is aimed at helping Kenyans to adopt global digital migration. The service applies to all Safaricom subscribers who have an M-shwari account.

They will deposit Sh1000 in their M-shwari accounts to acquire the set boxes, which retail at Sh3,499. Customers will then pay the remaining Sh2,499 in a three months’ instalment. Safaricom’s General Manager of Financial Services Betty Mwangi expressed confidence the product would fit into the firm’s customers’ lifestyles.

“Through this partnership we are allowing our over seven million M-shwari subscribers to access decoders on credit thereby assisting Kenyans advance technologically,” she said during the announcement of the partnership in Nairobi.

CBA chief executive officer Jeremy Ngunze said the move by the three firms follows realisation that most Kenyans have been disenfranchised when it comes to acquiring financial services locally.
