Baringo, Kenya: Shock gripped residents after a man went berserk shooting dead three people and critically injuring two others under unclear circumstances in Mkenuk village in East Pokot, Baringo County.
According to the locals, the man identified as Yaramuk Dike ,25, was feasting on goat meat with his friends before he left secretly and came back with a gun and shot them one by one killing three on the spot.
Residents, who heard the gun shots, rushed to the scene and found the three lying dead and the others writhing in pain. The injured were rushed to Chemolingot District hospital and one who was critically injured referred to Kabarnet District Hospital.
East pokot Sub-County commissioner Daniel Kurui said the motive of the killing was still mysterious adding that police are on the ground investigating the incident.
The suspect is still at large. Police have called on the community to cooperate as police have launched a man- hunt.
The bodies of the deceased were taken to Kabarnet District Hospital mortuary.
Silale MCA Nelson Lotela condemned the incident and accused police of delay in handling the case.
“People are now living in fear and if police will not move with speed to arrest him, he might kill more people,” said Lotela.
