Nairobi, Kenya: Six members of the German Bundestag, the German parliament, will visit Kenya in three days’ time, according to the German Embassy in Nairobi.
The delegation from the Christian Democratic Union/Christian Social Union Parliamentary Faction of the German Bundestag will visit Kenya from 14 until 16 April 2014 for a number of talks with Government and National Assembly Representatives. The delegation will also meet with representatives of international organisations based in Kenya.
The talks will focus on bilateral relations and development cooperation but will also address regional topics such as the cooperation with Somalia, environmental policy and the situation of refugees.
The Delegation will be led by Hon Mrs Gerda Hasselfeldt, Deputy Leader of Majority in the German Parliament.
“The visit underlines the close ties and trustful cooperation between Parliaments in Germany and Kenya,” said Martin Falk, the Head of Press and Cultural Affairs at the German Embassy in a written statement.
It is the first visit of German Parliamentarians after the reconstitution of the German Bundestag following the elections in autumn 2013.
