Mombasa, Kenya: Police and medical officials have released the list of victims killed in Sunday’s carnage at a church in Likoni.
Two bodies were brought to the Coast General Hospital with gun wounds on Sunday and yesterday authorities disclosed that six bodies were lying at the hospital’s mortuary.
Twenty-three casualties were taken to the Coast General Hospital.
The hospital’s chief administrator, Dr Bernard Mwero, told The Standard that all the victims had multiple gunshot injuries.
He said that two bodies were brought to the hospital from the scene, one casualty died upon arrival, two perished in the Intensive Care Unit ICU on the same day while another died also on Sunday while undergoing surgery.
Among the six is Veronica Akinyi Osinya, the wife of Benson Osinya who died in a hail of bullets while shielding her 11-month-old son Satrin. Satrin was airlifted to Nairobi yesterday for specialised treatment has a bullet lodged in his skull.
The others who perished under the hail of the terrorists bullets, according to police, are Priscilla Mbula Kiilu, Bernard Ochieng, Judith Akinyi, Philip Mutesa Ambetsa and John Nandala.
Nandala was a watchman at the Joy of Jesus Church and was the first to be killed by the suspected terrorists when he attempted to block them from entering the church.
