KILIFI COUNTY: A motion proposing to ban short or mini-skirts in the county has sparked protests from commercial sex workers who say it will curtail the allure of their trade.
But the proposed legislation has also irked beach boys and other people who wear so called ‘sagging clothes’ that provoke emotion by exposing private parts.
Assembly Speaker Jimmy Kahindi confirmed to have received the motion by the Marafa Ward Rep Renson Kambi.
The Speaker however, said he has referred the motion to the legal department for scrutiny to determine if it contravenes the Constitution.
The title of the proposed law was not immediately clear but its proponent claimed he was motivated by the need to promote decent dressing.
