A planned meeting at State House where former Heritage minister and ODM’s pointman in the Maa community William Ntimama was to decamp to TNA aborted Tuesday.
Media reports last week had indicated that Ntimama with a team of Maasai elders were to cross over to President Uhuru Kenyatta’s TNA, which together with URP (that sponsored the Deputy President William Ruto) forms the Jubille Alliance.
Sources said the meeting at State House, Nairobi, that had been organised by Kajiado North MP Moses ole Sakuda failed to take off because of the overtones it sent to the “Jubillee family”.
But Sakuda played down the postponement saying the meeting was put off to give room “for wider consultations”.
“The meeting was postponed to give room for wider consultations after the elders sought time to incorporate all leaders from the Maa community. We will be scheduling the meeting soon,” said Sakuda.
However those privy to the meeting point to a pre-election pact that zoned Narok as URP zone.
“Ntimama’s allusion to join TNA and not URP sent the wrong signals. No one wants a fractious Jubilee,” said a source who cannot be quotted becayse he is not authorised to speak on behalf of Jubilee Government.
A meeting was held at a city hotel on Friday where Ntimama’s niece, Leah (who is in URP) mobilised elders to boycott the planned meeting.
