KISUMU, KENYA: Two people feared dead and six houses were torched as tension heightened along the Nyakach/Kericho border. The attack was executed at around 9pm Friday at Ngege area in Nyakach in an alleged retaliatory attack.

Two weeks ago a man was killed after he allegedly attempted to steal from a home in Nyakach. He later died in hospital.

Few days later a man was also killed in Nyakach.

Friday night attackers believed to have originated from Kericho County set ablaze four houses. For the better part of the night and Saturday morning the two communities engaged each other before the police came in between to disperse them.

Nyakach people barricaded the Kisumu-Sondu road paralysing traffic for the better part of the morning.

The intervention of Nyakach DC Chaunga Mwachaunga led to a cease fire after he beseeched the two warring sides to disperse however this was not fully heeded to by the communities as they continued to regroup few metres away from each other amidst tension.
