Embu, Kenya: A female pastor from Embu County recently whacked a drunkard in his late 20s after he approached her for a love affair.

The young woman who was carrying a small black Bible is estimated to be 25.

She said she was on her way home from a seminar when the man approached her in a drunken tone, asking for an affair.

According to a witness, the man had been sipping at a drinking joint with his friends who ordered him out of the club when he started disturbing the waitresses.

“Walikuwa na marafiki zake kwenye klabu na alipoanza kuwasumbua wafanyakazi akafukuzwa (They were drinking with his friends when he was ordered out after he started disturbing the workers.) He started drinking just the other day,” the witness said.

Perplexed by his sloshed tone, the preacher told him off and warned him against ‘disturbing’ her as he forcefully held her by the hand. She said, “Usinisumbue tafadhali, tembea uendako (Please don’t disturb me, just go your way).” The drunkard ignored her.

“You are becoming a disgrace to me. Do you think we can make a family…? Keep off from me or I let you see what I can do,” the woman of God is reported to have told him.

But the more she warned him from nearing her, the more firmly he held her.

The man proceeded to disrupt her as she flinched in disgust while mumbling around as if to wonder what had fallen the man. Things however went awry when the man tried to kiss the woman, making her angrier. She gestured at him to stop it, but all in vain.

Riled with her irritation, the pastor struck him hard across the cheek. The drunk man staggered and helplessly fell to ground.

She put the Holy Book by the road side and started whipping the man who could not counterattack as he was heavily drunk.

“Hata ukinichapa hutaniweza! (You can’t overpower me),” he roared. The commotion attracted passersby who begged her to spare him.

Whereas some spectators begged her not to punish him further, some were saying the pastor was not ‘saved.’

“Mwangalie yule, na eti ni pastor… badala ya amuombee huyo mwanamme awache kulewa, yeye hata anaweka Bibilia kando amchape, (Look at that pastor… instead of praying for him, she has even released the Bible to fight him,” a spectator was heard saying.

After thrashing the man to her satisfaction, she picked up her Bible and walked away.
