William Ruto promises tough action on the corrupt

Migori, Kenya: Deputy President William Ruto has warned those embezzling funds meant for public development.

He said the Government would not tolerate cases of corruption, adding that every coin must be used where and how it was intended.

Speaking at the weekend in Kuria East, Migori County, during a fundraiser, Ruto said; “I want to warn those who are embezzling funds that their days are numbered. It is important for devolution and national funds to be well-utilised.”

The Deputy President said the Jubilee administration is ready to work with any political party to ensure development was achieved across the country.

Ruto urged Kenyans to put aside their political differences and join hands to ensure that Kenyans get key services.

Recently, Kisumu Governor Jacktone Ranguma held a meeting with President Uhuru Kenyatta on his planned visit to Kisumu for purposes of development.

Peace prevails

Kuria, Migori and Narok leaders at the fundraising ceremony in aid of Nyamutiro SDA Church, called on communities along the common border to shun violence and concentrate in development.

“We cannot have any meaningful development if there is no peace,” said Migori Governor Okoth Obado, adding that it was the duty of all residents of the region to ensure that peace prevails by reporting criminals.

He further said Migori County has plans to introduce dairy farming, noting this would improve economic development.

Narok Governor Samuel ole Tunai said leaders from the two regions would build a sugar factory at the border and a learning centre that would enrol students from different communities to enhance peace and unity in the area.

Kericho Senator Charles Keter called on the residents to desist from cattle rustling, saying it was the main cause of underdevelopment in the region.
