Deputy governor claims law not clear on her ouster

Embu Deputy Governor Dorothy Muchungu has asked the Senate to ignore her ouster from office by the county assembly arguing the impeachment was against the law.

Ms Muchungu told the Senate that the law was silent on the removal of a deputy governor which renders the resolution by the Embu County Assembly as an illegality.

She filed a petition in court yesterday seeking interpretation of the law on her impeachment.

“… the resolution of the County Assembly of Embu against our client is unconstitutional and therefore the Senate should not act on it as that will amount to aiding and abetting unconstitutional decisions, actions and conduct,” read the petition in part.

Kibe Mungai, acting for Muchungu, argued that Muchungu could not be jointly held responsible for the actions of the governor which may have been at the heart of the bad blood between the assembly and Wambora.

Muchungu prayed that  Ethuro does not constitute the team that would handle her impeachment, even as the Council of Deputy Governors vowed to seek constitutional interpretation from the Supreme Court as related to ouster of their superiors.
