MPs, Senators warn Ngilu and Swazuri

By STANLEY MWAHANGA

Two Committees of the National Assembly and Senate have threatened to dislodge Lands Cabinet Secretary Charity Ngilu and National Lands Commission Chairman Mohammed Swazuri, unless they resolve their differences for the benefit of the country.

The Senate Committee on Land, Agriculture and Natural Resources and the National Assembly Committee on Lands said they would not hesitate to remove the two from office they don’t work together.

The committee members, who were in Mombasa for a consultative forum on formulation and regulation of the National Lands Commission, said trouble in the Ministry of Lands was getting out of hand and there is need for an arbitrator to move in and help  end the rising tensions.

Taita-Taveta Senator, Dan Mwazo said they might use their authority and prescribe that the two public officials deliver services to the citizens or face the wrath of the two commitees.

Mwazo said if need be, both the Cabinet Secretary and NLC chairman will be forced to sit and work out their differences and if the can’t one or both will have to make way for others who are willing to work.

“You must sit and sort out your mess or we will force you to do so. And if you cannot put you houses in order the Senate and the National Assembly will not be shy to sit and send one or both of you out of office,” Mwazo said.
