RUIRU, KENYA: Beneficiaries of the Ruiru Community Home received a pleasant surprise when they were handed a box which turned out to have contained things needed by many of the community’s members.
A box from Mabati Rolling Mills (MRM) a manufacture of roofing solutions contained several goods including 100 DumuZas iron sheets, foodstuffs and a load of used clothes for children, the youth and for the grown-ups.
The contribution was as a result of an initiative by Mabati Rolling Mills Staff who individually collected used items, including clothing, which they ultimately donated to the centre which is a Community Based Organization (CBO) intended to empower women, the elderly, youth and children through provision of food, school fees, economic empowerment, training in entrepreneurship and life skills.
The occasion was also witnessed by their MRM’s Director Sulibhai Shah.
The event brought together staff of MRM, represented by Wellness Champions, young mothers, orphaned children and elderly persons who depended on the Centre for their daily care.
A Programme Director of the Centre, Mr Francis Njang’iru, received the items on behalf of the Centre and thanked Mabati Rolling Mills and the Premchand Foundation for the goodwill.
He appealed to other organisation to come to the aid of the Centre which is entirely run by the community.
