Controversy over the recent parastatal appointments by President Uhuru Kenyatta is still rearing its ugly head, with one replaced board chair filing a court petition seeking to reverse the move.

The replaced chairman of the influential Kenya Medical Laboratories, Technicians and Technologists Board (KMLTTB), Abel Onyango, said Uhuru was misled to replace him with Moi University lecturer Alex Chemtai.

In his petition to the High Court yesterday, Mr Onyango said his replacement violates the Constitution.

“The cabinet secretary did not ensure compliance with the requirement that the appointee must be registered and licensed as a medical laboratory technologist or technician under the KMLTTB Act,” he said.

He said the cabinet secretary did not revoke his appointment nor issue him any notice.

Onyango also argued that as the only person living with a disability chairing the board of a parastatal, replacing him with a person who does  not fall in that special interest group was another gross violation of the Constitution.
