Alfred Mutua denies fighting Kalonzo Musyoka

MACHAKOS COUNTY, KENYA: Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has said the era of imposing leaders on the electorate in Ukambani is gone.

Dr Mutua (pictured) said the people will no longer accept leaders who have been chosen by “outsiders” just because they are from the ‘correct’ party.

He dispelled views that he was embroiled in a supremacy battle with his Wiper Democratic Movement party leader and former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka.

Political face-off

He also denied that the recent Mua/Kitanga Ward by-election in the County was a political face-off between him and Kalonzo.

Speaking a day after Mr Nzeki Munyaka, his preferred candidate of National Party of Kenya (NPK), beat Wiper’s candidate Francis Ngunga in the by-election, Mutua said people of Machakos would not accept imposed leaders.

The governor reiterated his stand against Ngunga, who lost to Munyaka with 3,028 votes against 1,522 in the ward by-election.

“I said it before, and I will keep saying it. The Wiper’s choice was appalling. It’s like letting a snake enter your house and bite your child’s buttock as you watch,” Mutua, who  was speaking during the burial of Muthesya Ward Representaive Samson Muema (CCU) who died in a road accident.
