New Ford Kenya party candidate in the Bungoma senatorial by-election Musikari Kombo has renewed attacks on his Ford Kenya rival Moses Wetang’ula.
Speaking at Friends Secondary School in Sirisia, Mr Wetang’ula’s backyard, Mr Kombo accused the Ford Kenya leader of hoodwinking the electorate to vote for him by invoking the names of prominent Luhya politicians like Michael Kijana Wamalwa and Masinde Muliro.
He claimed it was ironic that Wetang’ula vigorously fought the two leaders when they were alive, yet in their death he claimed to be continuing the work they started.
“Wetang’ula cannot claim to be fighting for Luhya unity while purporting to continue with the work of Wamalwa and Muliro when he fought them in their efforts to unite the community back then,’’ he noted.
Kombo further challenged his rival to stop making personal attacks on fellow aspirants without declaring his development agenda if he is elected Bungoma Senator.
He called Wetang’ula a leader with old ideas that failed to serve the Sirisia constituents when he was the area MP before he changed his ambitions and ran for the senator seat.
“The work Wetang’ula did in Sirisia when he was the MP is enough to show the people of Bungoma that he is not fit for leadership. A poor road network and high poverty levels are no justification for anyone to seek a higher post,’’ observed Kombo.
