Today’s swearing in of Siaya County Governor-elect Cornel Rasanga will cost Sh3.8 million.

Siaya County Transition Authority (TA) Interim Secretary Caleb Ongoma said preparations for the swearing in ceremony were complete.

Mr Ongoma said Justice Hillary Chemetei would preside over the ceremony to be held at the Siaya Municipal Stadium beginning at 11am.

Ongoma also said security for the event had been beefed up.

The guests

The TA interim secretary said about 100 dignitaries and hundreds of locals residents were expected to attend the ceremony.

“We want to make a grand party that has never been seen in Kenya,” he said.

Ongoma said governors from the neighbouring counties would be among the dignitaries attending the function, including the Chairman of the Council of Governors, Isaac Ruto.

Guests will be entertained by Ohangla Maestro, Otieno Aloka, among others.

Rasanga was re-elected in a by-election after the court nullified his victory in the March 4 poll.
