Kisumu County: Pressure is mounting on Kisumu Governor Jacktone Ranguma to establish a public service board.

This comes as the County Assembly that rejected a list of his nominees blamed the executive over delays in submitting new names.

Kisumu West MP Olago Aluoch challenged the governor and members of the county assembly to work together to end the deadlock.

Olago said the county was setting a bad precedence by lagging behind in unveiling its board members; something he said was paralysing the operations.

“It is very painful that other counties experiencing massive challenges have gone ahead of us to set up the body. There is no reason we should fail to do so as a county,” he said.

Speaking at a function that brought together the leadership of the county, Olago urged them to resolve the matter urgently.

The Assembly Speaker, Anne Adul, absolved the ward representatives from any blame, saying the governor’s office was responsible for the delay.

“The executive has not submitted the list of nominees to the House for vetting. We are always ready to do our work to ensure the board is in place,” she said.

Adul confirmed they had not received any communication from the governor on when the names will be forwarded for vetting, a situation that may force the county to wait for longer before the body is established.

Unlike other counties, which unveiled members of PSB more than three months ago, there has been a stalemate in Kisumu after the county assembly opposed Ranguma’s appointments in September.
