Men, what’s with the gossiping wave?

By MISS MANDI

I’ve always wanted to be a fly on the wall at a barbershop.

Case in point? To eavesdrop on men’s discussions while getting their hair and nails fixed.

It has finally dawned on me that gossiping is no longer a woman-only affair.

Men these days take the crown when it comes to ‘juicy fill me in’ stories.

Women love shopping, gossiping, soap operas and all the girly stuff, which most men now appreciate.

Recently, I was having a drink with one of my girlfriends and had invited her male pal.

It was one of those sittings we have and talk about everything.

What shocked me was the manner in which this guy was blathering about his friends.

Within few minutes, he had told us how his friends have slept with so and so, his friends’ one-night stands, their clandestine affairs and other personal details.

Honestly, that was a bolt from the blue!

Here was a 29-year-old man who felt the need to gossip about other people’s personal lives because he may or may not have shortcomings of his own.

What happened to the good old days where men talked about soccer, the latest gadgets, women and cars? These same men who have invested in gossiping forget that they will one day raise a generation of men.

Given that men do gossip when they are with their other boys, shouldn’t they hold the brakes when with female companion?

Worse still, why do men feel the need to gossip on twitter and other social media platforms?

Social media has become an important tool that both women and men use to vet people.

I personally keep away from any man who loves to gossip because that means they could spread false stories about you to other people.

Ladies, do you get turned off by men who love to gossip?
