Pilot crash lands in a thicket in Kilifi

Kilifi, Kenya: A 65-year-old pilot escaped death narrowly when an aircraft he was flying crash landed at a thicket Tezo, Kilifi County on Sunday evening.

The incident attracted a huge crowd who converged to have a view of the aircraft.

According to kilifi OCPD Justin Nyaga, the light aircraft registration number 5 Y ALJ PIPER ARROW was being flown from Malindi to Ukunda when it crashed.

“The plane crashed at around 5pm on Sunday but the pilot escaped death as he safely landed at Magorani location in Kilifi County”, said the OCPD.

Mr Nyaga said the pilot, Mr Joseph Martin of African origin, encountered a laser power problem.

The police boss thanked members of public who swiftly moved to the scene of the accident and rescued the pilot.
