Taita Taveta County: Fraudsters are fleecing unemployed youth of their money under the pretext of securing them jobs in Taita Taveta County.
The con artists are reportedly collecting Sh1,400 from desperate youth with a promise to train them and later deploy them to various jobs across the country.
The County Director of Youth Development Mr Nicholas Omondi detected the job syndicate at his Wundanyi town office.
The youth who had fallen prey to the swindlers had been given invitation forms for the ‘interviews’ at the youth office.
The forms obtained by The Standard stated that the job seekers were supposed to pay to the youth office a registration/subscription fee of Sh1,400.
Mr Omondi said he was not aware of any interviews at his office and warned the youth to be wary of the fraudsters.
Taita OCPD Joackim Mogeni said investigations into the job scandal had been launched.
