Mother accused of child battery

Embu County: A mother was on Monday frog-marched to a police station by angry women from Kambungu village in Mbeere North District, Embu County, for allegedly mistreating her first-born child.

Tens of women carrying twigs accused the woman, who is in her late 30s, of beating up her 10-year-old daughter for flimsy reasons and denying her food.

The women also carried along the victim, a Class Three schoolgirl at Ndabari Primary School, and showed the deep scars that the woman had allegedly inflicted on her.

The girl, who was in torn clothes, also claimed she had been constantly denied food.
