The poorest performers in last year’s Form Four exam who qualified for direct JAB admission into public universities were admitted to study Sciences, and not Arts courses that have been viewed in the past as “courses for failures.”
The lowest grade among those selected to join university, an average of 25.99 cluster points, was admitted to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree (Integrated Forest Resources Management) at Egerton University.
The Nairobian has broken down data from the JAB admission selection list and established that 14 of the worst performers will study Science Courses while only one of them who garnered 28.65 points was admitted to pursue Bachelor of Arts at University of Nairobi.
“The Bachelor of Science programme in Integrated Forest Resource Management is interdisciplinary in approach and is tailored to provide skills and knowledge relevant in problem analysis, development of research modules, project implementation and pedagogic assignments on aspects of macro-scale and micro-scale forest resources management,” the Egerton University website says about the degree.
