KATHIANI, KENYA: Armed thugs on Thursday raided former Kathiani MP wavinya Ndeti’s dad ranch in Kinanie Village Athi River for the fourth time stealing animals.
The thugs estimated to be around twenty went away with more than 35 goats leaving a huge distraction at the farm.
Armed with arrows and spears the gang is said to have arrived at Ndeti’s ranch around 1:30 am and terrorized the guards before breaking into the kraal and managed to get away with a herd of goats and sheep.
According to Ndeti’s daughter Mary Ndeti, the thugs started by pelting houses with stones to instill fear before they struck. During the raid they broke into cattle shed and managed to steal 35 goats.
“They were many about twenty or even more and our guard had to escape as they were using arrows and spears,” said Mary.
Police on patrol responded immediately and recovered 29 goats along Nairobi- Mombasa road before they were loaded into a waiting vehicle. The suspects managed to get away with six goats valued at Sh30,000
Athi River OCPD Beatrice Kiraguri said they are following up on a close lead to unearth the theft goat syndicate. She however told the Standard that no suspect was caught. ‘’It’s suspected the goats are being transported to Nairobi in a ready market’’ said Kiraguri
The Ndeti family and their neighbors have lost more than 3000 goats in the past three months. Some farmers have so far closed their cattle pens completely.
