Homa Bay County: The Luo Council of Elders has condemned circulation of hate leaflets targetted at senior Homa Bay County Government officials.
Residents woke up to find a number of leaflets strewn on the streets of Homa Bay town by unknown people.
Speaking during the burial of former ODM Nakuru Branch Secretary Barrack Okul in Karachuonyo constituency, Luo Council of Elders Chairman Opiyo Otondi decried circulation of the leaflets, saying it might hinder development in the area.
Mr Otondi told the residents to look for better ways of addressing their grievances instead of causing hatred in the society.
Persistent squabbles
The elders’ chairman told the residents to desist from persistent squabbles, adding that there was no development that could take place in any county hit by constant wrangles.
“Wrangles are a great enemy to the development that we are yearning for in our counties. Let us coexist peacefully and give our elected leaders time to serve the people,” Otondi said.
Otondi termed the circulation of the leaflets as a shame to the community. Homa Bay OCPD Francis Kumut said they had launched investigations into incident.
“We have realised that there are people perpetrating hatred in this area. These people are jeopardising peace in the area and we are going to ensure they are punished,” Kumut said.
