Laikipia County: A ranch manager was murdered at dawn yesterday by an armed gang, which raided his house in Magutu area of Ndaiga, Laikipia County.
David Parkinson, the manager of Loldaiga Ranch, was asleep in his house with his wife when the gang struck. Sources and police said the gang gained entry after breaking the couple’s glass door using a stone.
Laikipia East OCPD Marius Tum said the five-member gang accosted the couple in their bedroom, where they ordered them to hand over a rifle and money.
“They also tied up his wife, Sonja Parkinson, but she was able to escape in the commotion and hide in a nearby store. The gang terrorised Mr Parkinson and eventually killed him,” said Tum.
According to Mrs Parkinson’s statement, the gang was hooded and armed. “One was armed with a panga, others with crude weapons,” noted the recorded statement.
