As usual, after winning the men’s 3000m steeplechase race in Moscow, athlete Ezekiel Kemboi thrilled the audience with his trademark dance.

Kemboi danced in sync with a particular Kalenjin song that was playing loud in his mind. Certainly, the athlete, who has won over six medals in world championships, had practised the dance moves as he trained for the race. You cannot gyrate as he did if you have not practised for hours. His Mohawk, too, talked volumes about how prepared he was for his victory.

However, as his dance becomes popular across the world, it is time Kemboi gives the dance a name and patents it before some sharp-brains start making a killing out of it.

Like Usain Bolt and his antics, Kemboi and his dance are a brand that can fetch billions of shillings. In Moscow, the athlete even made himself more appealing with the Mohawk, the Kenyan flag around his waist and his green shoes. Now, one only needs to watch the footage of the athlete dancing and come up with a video game featuring him in a race. The rest will be history as they will smile all the way to the bank. The sad fact about it is that this will not be done by the sharp minds along River Road, but somewhere in China.
