Woman, 22, allegedly stabs son to death

Shock gripped Githii village in Kipipiri after a woman stabbed to death her nine months old son.

The two were sleeping in the house on Sunday night when the woman woke up and picked an axe which she used to kill her only son.

According to the police, it is suspected that the woman has been of unsound mind.

“We are still awaiting the medical report to determine if she is of sober mind as residents claim. It was a shock to everybody as it remains unclear why she decided to kill the son,” said Kipipiri OCPD Charles Chebet.

He noted that the woman has since been arrested and locked up at Kipipiri police station.

“We are holding her for questioning and once the medical report is out, we will take the necessary action,” he observed.

Chebet said that it is neighbors who when they visited her house found an axe with blood and got curious.

They went into the bedroom only to find the body of the son lying in a pool of blood Monday morning.

“Asked why she did it, the woman aged 22 claimed that she did not want anybody near her and that’s why she killed him,” she said.

The body was moved to Ol Kalou JM Memorial hospital mortuary.
