Parklands police station has been ranked as the best police station in Kenya.
The city facility was followed by Buru Buru and Bungoma stations in a study where 19 stations were visited.
The ranking was done during the Police Station Visitors’ Week organised by Usalama Reforms Forum (URF), a civil society initiative aimed reforming policing in Kenya.
The Police Station Visitors’ Week is an event aimed at encouraging the police and the public they serve to respect human rights.
Last month, the fifth edition of the Africa Report on Police Station Visitors’ week ranked Kenya’s Police as the best overall in Africa.
However despite such high ranking, only one of the 10 participating police stations in Kenya – Buru Buru – made it to the top ten roll of honour in the five categories of the score sheet.
Buru Buru police station was ranked as the sixth best in Africa in the “community orientation and physical conditions” categories.
