Nyamira youth complain over county jobs

By Naftal Makori

Youths in Nyamira have raised concerns over appointments advertised to fill various in the county.

Zinduka Mashinani, a youth lobby group supported by Youth Agenda on Tuesday accused the county government of locking thousands of qualified youths out of employment by setting stringent conditions.

Led by coordinator Mr Ronald Gisore, the youth called on the county public service board to be transparent and fair in the employment process.

“We are afraid that the board may want to serve their own interests in the various appointments,” said Gisore.

The forum that brought together 20 youths drawn from Borabu, North Mugirango Kitutu Masaba and West Mugirango constituencies noted appointments had been politicised.

The youths petitioned Nyamira County leaders to review the issue of experience and find ways to accommodate fresh graduates who have knowledge and skills but limited experience.

Members of the County Assembly were urged to offer proper oversight to ensure the rights of all Kenyans as regards to employment are respected.

He appealed to Governor John Nyagarama to establish resource centers across the county for the youths to access information available in his government.
