Kenya: Central Organisation of Trade Unions Secretary General Francis Atwoli has hit out at the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) on its circular on agreements with the unions.

Atwoli said SRC should not interfere with the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) that had been signed between the teachers and their employer Teachers Service Commission.

“The best ILO standard states that the Government and the employer should give dialogue a chance and honour any CBAs,” said Atwoli during a press briefing on Sunday.

Asked whether he supports the ongoing Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers’ strike, he insisted that dialogue was the only way to end the stalemate.
