This morning, Taita Taveta Senator Danson Mwazo will meet dissatisfied members of the County Assembly in Wundanyi in an attempt to end the stalemate between them and governor John Mruttu.
The Members of the County Assembly (MCA) have sued Mruttu over last week’s swearing in of ten county executive committee members they rejected allegedly on integrity grounds.
Also rejected were several members of the proposed county civil service board and the row has derailed operations of the county administration based in Wundanyi.
Lawyer Duncan Mwanyumba, who has joined the fray in seeking for reconciliation between the two warring parties, blamed the endless wrangles on breakdown in communication. Mruttu received a major setback after the MCA unanimously rejected his pick.
The row later took a dramatic twist after the rejected nominees were sworn-in in a ceremony boycotted by county ward representatives and all elected leaders in the region.
Reliable sources told The Standard that Mruttu has been served with papers challenging the legality of his Cabinet. “It appears there is no proper communication between the governor, senator and the County Assembly,” said Mwanyumba.
