Vet all judicial officers, says Law Society of Kenya

The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) has called for vetting of all judicial officers below the level of judges and magistrates to sustain ongoing reforms in the Judiciary.

LSK’s Kaburu Ndegwa asked Chief Justice Willy Mutunga to conduct the exercise to improve inefficiency and get rid of corruption.

“The vetting of judges and magistrates has been effective. They are working hard and better. But if you go below that cadre of staff, it is still business as usual in terms of corruption,” he claimed.

Mr Ndegwa said most cases are generated due to alleged corruption in Lands ministry.  “There are still over 10,000 missing files in the Lands office. The backlog of cases is mainly because of mess in the office.”
