Residents happy with allocations to security

Kenya: Kisumu and Nakuru residents welcomed the move by Government to allocate Sh67 billion to police.

Residents said police officers will not have excuse of lack of vehicles to respond to emergency cases and for patrols. “We are tired of killings and burglaries in residential areas,” said Joseph Onyango in Kisumu.

Kisumu County is among those to benefit from Sh200 million allocated for construction of healthcare facilities. The county has one referral hospital that caters for the entire Nyanza region.

In Nakuru, residents said allocation to the youth will provide capital to the unemployed. Joel Kiprop, a trader in Nakuru town, said the county experiences criminal activities due to lack of employment.

Charles Lukuyes, a resident said setting funds to improve security will lead to improved business. “During dry season, prices of food stuffs increase causing suffering. Having irrigation schemes will encourage farmers to practice farming in all seasons,” added Lukuyes.
