NYAHURURU; KENYA: A woman was on Thursday charged before a Nyahururu court with sexually molesting a boy.
Betty Chepkemoi denied the charges of having a sexual intercourse with a 12-year-old boy at Kongasis village in Marigat district.
The accused appeared before Nyahururu Resident Magistrate Peter Muholi and was released on a bond of Sh200,000 with a surety of similar amount.
Chepkemoi was charged that on May 25, she was found sexually molesting the minor in her house.
The accused also faced another charge of indecently assaulting the boy.
The prosecution told the court that the victim who is a neighbour to the accused was sleeping in their house with other children when the accused picked him and took him to her house.
The court heard that other children heard a commotion and a distress call from the boy when they went and found the accused harassing the boy sexually.
It was then that he was released and warned not to tell anyone about the incident but the distraught boy informed his parents and other neighbours who reported the matter to the police.
The accused was arrested and locked in at the Kongasis police station and later charged in court with the offences.
The case will be heard on July 18 this year.
