Kenya: Nigerian Judge Chile Eboe-Osuji is the new Presiding Judge in the case against Deputy President William Samoei Ruto and journalist Joshua Arap Sang at International Criminal Court (ICC).

Osuji takes over from Japanese Judge Kuniko Ozaki, who remains the lead judge in the case against President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The Nigerian was elected last week by the three-judge Bench of Trial Chamber V (a) to preside over the case whose date is yet to be fixed.

“On May 22, the judges of Trial Chamber V (a) elected a Presiding Judge in the case against Mr William Samoei Ruto and Mr Joshua Arap Sang pursuant to Regulation 13(2) of the Regulations of the court and hereby declare that Judge Chile Eboe-Osuji is the presiding judge in the case,” reads the decision of the court.

Other judges in the Ruto/Sang case are Olga Herrera Carbucci (from Dominican Republic) and Robert Fremr (Czech Republic).
