Nairobi, Kenya; There are ongoing talks on how to resuscitate former PM Raila Odinga to enable him to remain politically relevant, after losing in the last General Election to Uhuru Kenyatta.
Raila has played his role in our politics and will remain engraved in our hearts and history.
The fact that he did not win the presidency will not make him politically irrelevant or inactive. Must one be elected to be relevant?
If he did not achieve his highest fete as a premier, what do we expect him to achieve as a Senator or MP, with age also advancing? The man will be 74 when we hold our next General Election and believe you me, we will be asking him, like other wazees to retire honourably from politics. Any attempt to have a go at the presidency will be disastrous.
Raila reminds me of Samson son of Manoah, who lost his powers to fight the Philistines. The enemy has learned and neutralised him and he can no longer put a serious fight against them.
In the wild, younger lions neutralise older males by taking over their territories in a brutal fight. UhuRuto now reminds of the life in the wild and the old male can only nurse his wounds.
