Senior Police officer injured in blast

At least one police officer was wounded in an explosion on the roadside near St Polycarp church, Juja Road, Nairobi on Friday night.

Among the wounded officers was the Officer Commanding Station (OCS) Pangani Police Station.

The officer had visited the scene to ascertain the cause of the first explosion when he was seriously injured.

The first explosion was heard from garbage in Mlango Kubwa and as police were checking what it was, the second one went off injuring the senior officer.

He is admitted at Radiant hospital critically wounded.

The Nairobi Provincial Police Officer, Moses Ombati said they are yet to know the cause of the scene. The experts are at the scene to investigate the incident.

This is the second time an explosion has occurred in Juja Road.

Three weeks ago an explosion occurred at St Polycarp ACK church in Juja road leaving one child dead and about nine others attending a Sunday school service injured.
