Taita-Taveta County has once again lost an MCA.

The death of Constance Mwandawiro has thrown the assembly in mourning as the county has been hit by a series of frequent deaths of members.

The Wiper Party legislator died while undergoing treatment at a Mombasa hospital, confirmed the Assembly Speaker Wisdom Kazungu Mwamburi.

The death now brings to five the members the assembly has lost in the recent past.

"It is with heavy hearts and immense grief that we announce the passing on of our dear Hon Constance Shungula Mwandawiro, nominated MCA of the County Assembly of Taita Taveta, at a Mombasa hospital on Thursday afternoon," said Mwamburi.

He said the deceased will be remembered as a dedicated legislator who has been vocal and at the forefront of championing the rights of the people of Taita Taveta, especially women.

Until her death, the MCA was vice chairperson of the Health and Sanitation Services Committee and a member of other committees.
