Former Nyali Member of Parliament Awiti Bolo was on Thursday charged in Mombasa Law courts with issuing a faulty cheque worth over Sh2.2 million.
The former MP was charged with five counts of issuing bad cheques to Jefan General Contractors on September 8, 2015.
While appearing before Principal Magistrate Elvis Micheka, Awiti denied the five counts.
Awiti who was represented by his lawyer Wameyo Okumu was released on a bond of Sh500, 000 with an alternative cash bail of Sh300,000.
“The court has recorded the accused has denied all counts. The accused shall be released upon executing a bond of Sh 500,000 or a cash bail of Sh200, 000,” said Micheka.
It is alleged that on September 8, 2015, at Port Reitz Area in Changamwe, he issued five cheques to Jefan General Contractors on Diamond Trust Bank.
The former MP issued four different cheques each worth Sh500,000 and a last one worth Ksh.Ksh239, 283.
