Water agency plans new supply

Already 40 locations have had water tanks installed and tap water connected for home use.

The Mombasa Water and Sewarage Company (Mowasco) has started putting water points in slum areas within the county after it embarked on water redistribution in the wake of Covid-19.

The water agency is now redirecting the commodity to households, informal settlements and hospitals from large manufacturing firms, majority of which have shut down or scaled down operations.

Mowasco Managing Director Anthony Njaramba said they have already mapped out several locations where they are installing water tanks for use by communities in informal settlements.

Already 40 locations have had water tanks installed and tap water connected for home use.

He named the locations on Mombasa island as Muoroto slums, Simitini and Palestine. Others within the island division are Railways Old estate near Highlevel KPA, Mwembe Tayari and Timboni.
