Kiambu Governor James Nyoro who is also the Jubilee candidate is set to unveil his manifesto today.

He will be enumerating his vision and plans for the 1.2 million registered residents of the county. The unveiling of the manifesto will be a culmination of forums Nyoro has been holding in Kiambu’s 12 sub-counties.

He is however facing stiff competition from former governor William Kabogo, Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria, Thika Town MP Patrick Wainaina, IT guru Mwende Gatabaki, Agnes Ndungu and Senator Kimani Wamatangi.

Nyoro took over the county affairs after his boss Fedinard Waititu was hounded out of office on graft charges when on January 29, 2020 the Senate upheld the impeachment. Since Nyoro took over, the county has been recognised as the most revolutionary in agriculture and education sectors.

Nyoro, an agricultural economist has been credited for spearheading reforms in the agricultural sector.

At a ceremony held in Mombasa early this year, Nyoro was commended for implementing the best policies in agriculture sector.

The fourth edition of the County Gala Award (2022) ranked governor Nyoro as the best performing county chief in Central region. The award organisers said Nyoro’s efforts in restoring the agriculture sector through budgetary allocation was outstanding.

Kiambu has doubled efforts towards attaining food security through the provision of farm inputs to farmers, such as fertilizers, seeds and seedlings.

The county government is also providing free artificial insemination which has resulted in Kiambu becoming the leading milk producer in the country.

On education, the county was recognised for construction and rehabilitation of Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE) centres and mainly for putting ECDE teachers on permanent employment.

Last year, the county employed 1,200 teachers on permanent terms, a move the award organisers said had enhanced education service delivery in the county.

So as to woo youths governor Nyoro wants residents to ignore the promised Hustlers Fund by his opponents and instead take up cheap loans established by his administration.
