A man has been charged with defiling a 13-year-old disabled girl.

Samuel Odido, 74, allegedly committed the heinous act on April 21 in Milimani village.

Appearing before Kakamega Resident Magistrate Caroline Cheruyiot, Odido denied the charges.

The magistrate ordered for a probation report to be availed before handing him bond.

Odido also faced another charge of committing an indecent act with a disabled child.

Prosecutor Moraa Atandi told court that the complainant had gone to the accused's shop to buy some items when he allegedly took her to his house, and defiled her.

“The complainant had been sent to the shop buy her mother to buy some things. While at the shop, the owner grabbed her hand and took her to his house, undressed her, and defiled her," she said.

Atandi said Odido allegedly threatened the minor that he would kill her if she told anyone about the incident.

“He threatened the complainant that he would her if she told anyone. However, the complainant confided in to her close friend who later reported Odido to her mother,” she said.

The prosecution also told the court that she has already supplied the accused with all the documentary materials they intend to rely on during the hearing of the case.
