Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST RFC), made a strong statement at the Kabeberi Sevens, securing their places in the quarterfinals after a dominant day one at the RFUEA Grounds.

MMUST RFC continued their impressive form from the Dala Sevens by clinching a spot in the last eight for the second consecutive week. They edged out hosts Mwamba RFC in a tightly contested 10-7 victory, showcasing resilience and tactical discipline.

MMUST then cruised past Mount Kenya University with a commanding 22-0 win, displaying their growing confidence and cohesion on the field.

Reflecting on the team’s performance, MMUST head coach Asila John expressed satisfaction but emphasized that they aim to surpass their fourth-place finish at the Dala Sevens.

“We came to Nairobi with the target of going all the way to the final. The boys are in good form, and the competition is tough, but our goal is to perform even better than we did last week,” Asila remarked.

His focus on continuous improvement indicates MMUST’s ambition to challenge the established rugby powerhouses.

MMUST are in Group D alongside KCB, Mount Kenya University and Mwamba.
