The much-anticipated 2024 George Mwangi Kabeberi Sevens and the fourth leg of the SportPesa National Sevens Circuit will kick off on Saturday at the RFUEA Grounds in Nairobi.

Mwamba Rugby Club Chairman, Jason Braganza, expressed the club’s enthusiasm for this year’s event, noting that the support by the various partners will go a long way in supporting the club.

“The George Mwangi Kabeberi Sevens has always been a significant event on the rugby calendar, and this year, we are raising the bar even higher.

“We are thrilled to partner with some of the biggest names in the industry, including SportPesa, Tusker, CIC, KCB, Tessen Sports, Reality Media, and the Kenya Rugby Union (KRU), to deliver an unforgettable experience for players, fans, and stakeholders alike,” Braganza said.

SportPesa Public Relations and Advertising Manager, Willis Ojwang, highlighted the continued support that has proven impactful since the first edition from active play to the fan experience.

“On behalf of SportPesa and Tujiamini, our place in sports is a true manifestation of itself seeing as our first time on board birthed the current Shujaa team who were also crowned African champions. It was good to see the Olympians back in Dala 7s and we expect to see a lot more action this weekend.”

His sentiments were backed up by the Kenya Rugby Union CEO, Thomas Odundo, who acknowledged the crucial support by the title sponsor. “The Kabeberi Sevens is an integral part of the National Sevens Circuit. We are proud of the growth and impact of this tournament and look forward to seeing it reach even greater heights this year. Additionally, having SportPesa on board as a title sponsor is a game-changer."

Speaking during the sponsorship presentation at the RFUEA Grounds today, Tusker Area Sales Manager, Antony Wasilwa, expressed delight at supporting the tournament.

“Tusker is proud to be the official alcohol beverage partner for the George Mwangi Kabeberi Sevens, one of the most revered tournaments in the National Sevens Circuit. Our sponsorship of Ksh. 3 million is a testament to our continued commitment to supporting and growing rugby in Kenya.” He said.

Tyrus Kanja, who is the Head of Operations, CIC Life Assurance, also acknowledged their continued support to Kabeberi 7s. “CIC has walked this journey for the fourth time now and we will continue offering our support.”

This year’s edition promises an exciting blend of top-tier rugby action with the tournament officially beginning on 24 August, at 9:00 am. The main event will kick off with Division One and Division Two teams competing for top honours, with the action set to climax on 25 August.

The 2024 George Mwangi Kabeberi Sevens promises to be a weekend of spectacular rugby action, entertainment, and community spirit. Fans are encouraged to secure their tickets early and join in celebrating one of the premier events on Kenya's rugby calendar.
