NAIVASHA, KENYA: There was drama in Naivasha after members of the public scrambled for meat of a hippo that had been electrocuted near Lake Naivasha.
The incident near Kihoto estate saw the public cut away huge chunks of meat before public health officers and KWS wardens intervened.
The male hippo had strayed from the lake into a private farm when it was electrocuted to the joy of area residents who termed the move as God sent.
According to a witness Willie Wambugu, cases of hippos straying from the lake has become common.
He said that the situation has been made worse by the closure of corridors and wildlife routes around lake leading to an increase in cases of human-wildlife conflict.
