Traders storm Kenya Power station over frequent power outages in Lodwar

Traders in Lodwar, Turkana County, stormed the local Kenya Power station yesterday, demanding an explanation for the frequent power outages that have plagued the town for over a week.

The business community also raised their plight at the office of Turkana county commissioner over the power blackouts.

The business people threatened to stage large-scale protests that could disrupt Kenya Power's operations if the issue of frequent power outages is not resolved quickly.

Edward Okumu, the vice chair of the Turkana branch of the Kenya Chambers of Commerce, stated that the business community in Turkana deserves the same level of services as other Kenyans. He demanded that the relevant authorities provide solutions to address this issue.

The community claimed their businesses have incurred huge losses this past week because of the issue being unresolved.

They asked President William Ruto to fulfill the promise he made during the Tobong Lore cultural event last year of connecting Turkana county to the national grid.
