Eldas MP Keynan launches Sh41 million bursary for needy students

Eldas MP Adan Keynan has launched a Sh41 million bursary aimed at supporting secondary, university, and college students.

The event that was held at Tulatula Secondary School was attended by students, parents, community leaders, and government officials, marking a significant towards ensuring students access education in the region.

Keynan emphasised the importance of investing in education as a cornerstone for the development and prosperity of the community.

The MP committed to ensuring that every student, regardless of their background pursues their academic aspirations.

"For accountability, I will urge the principals and heads of universities to give us written feedback that the bursary was received and students are benefiting," said Keynan.

"As the students return to school next week, I hope that no students will be sent home for lack of fees," he added.

The launch of the bursary has been welcomed by the community, with many expressing gratitude for the opportunity to access education without worrying about financial constraints.

Habiba Ali Ismail, a mother whose child is a student at Anole Secondary School in Eldas, lauded the MP initiative.

She said that the financial burden is now off her back and she is happy her child will study without her worrying about school fees.

Girl child education also took a centre stage at the event as leaders urged residents to empower girls.

Wajir High School principal Adan Kassim was optimistic that the bursary will catalyze positive change, empowering students to pursue their dreams and contribute meaningfully to the prosperity of Eldas and beyond.
